A bloomstalk of tall bearded Gate of Heaven (Zurbrigg, 2004) was judged "Best Specimen in Show." A registered border bearded burgundy red plicata seedling, Double Dare (Lockatell, R.2009) took home "Best Seedling in Show" honors. Soda Fountain Shuffle (Lockatell, R. 2009) received an "Exhibition Certificate" from attending AIS judges. Lois Rose, a FAIS member from Partlow, VA won the silver medal for most blue ribbon entries. Mike Lockatell received the bronze for 2nd most blue ribbons.
Exhibits reflected varieties growing at Maymont Park and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. The Flower Show turned out to be a nice preview of the reblooming bearded iris display to be seen at JSRCC on Saturday morning. For his "Best Specimen in Show" entry, Mike Lockatell won a Maymont Park Carriage Ride. As runner-up, Lois Rose received a $25.00 Staples Gift Card. The Show Committee would like to thank attendees for bringing bloomstalks to display. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.
